Cody Canada Wins the Internet

Cody Canada, the former frontman of red dirt rock pioneer group Cross Canadian Ragweed (as if you needed that introduction),  broke the internet Sunday with his social media post congratulating Koe Wetzel on the success of his new album “Harold Saul High”.  CCR completely transformed the scene in for more than a decade, playing a pivotal role in diversifying the musical umbrella of Texas/Red Dirt, which has no doubt lead the way for bands with more of rock-edge to find success in our scene like Koe Wetzel.  Wetzel even pens a tune on the latest record called “Ragweed” detailing a relationship that’s cemented by the fact they both miss [Cross Canadian] Ragweed.

Canada posted a lion king meme with his head on Rafiki’s body and Koe’s head on Simba essentially anointing him the new king of Texas/Red Dirt rock!  That’s a pretty incredible honor and it’s things like this that truly make our scene special.  Just thinking out loud here, but wouldn’t a Koe Wetzel/CCR Reunion Tour be pretty incredible….just a thought….
