Corey Kane Looks Back While “Moving On”

Clifton, Texas native Corey Kane has released of a solo album titled, “Moving On” that hit Spotify earlier this month. With strong classic country vocals, Kane’s sound will have you listening to his new record from start to finish!

Starting with the first song “Hurting Side”, Kane’s smooth country twang is so easy on the ears and has you hooked…a blend of Joe Nichols and a younger George Strait is what comes to mind. The kind of voice that makes you feel good even as it spills out emotional lyrics of heartache and loss.

The rest of the self-produced album, engineered with help from Scot Reynolds of Zzyzx Recording, is a showcase of Kane’s vocal talent and his songwriting ability. Kane also received some input from peers Jamie Weston, Dylan Kenny and Cody Bryan.

“Moving On” reflects on some tough chapters in Kane’s life, including the passing of his father when he was a teen and his recent divorce. “I worked horses and cattle on a boarding ranch for over a year for free rent and utilities til I could get back on my feet…” While tough, his lifestyle, “…offered kind of a peace to my existence that I wouldn’t have found otherwise and I wrote most of the album while I was living there,” Corey shared as he described his most recent chapter.

Kane delivers more ballads with other tracks such as “Loving You” with notable fiddle instrumentals and “Bring It On” which is one I’ve been enjoying belting out. Similar to this roller coaster we call life, Kane’s record also includes fun honky-tonks and songs with lyrics of the special moments in life that you look forward to. Kane’s quality voice and sound is what streams the record seamlessly together.

Our *PICK* of the album, is “My Getaway”, a rebellious and flirtatious upbeat track with themes of love-chasing and adventure. This song that will have your boots tappin’ along from the get-go! The vocal range and edgy electric guitar riffs along classic steel guitar flares result in a solid honky-tonk track. If you’re like me and looking for those catchy songs to add to your summer playlist, this one is a must, but I know I’ll be dancing and singing along to this one seasons beyond.

Kane has more to look forward to this summer as he has partnered with Smith Music Group for digital and physical distribution of the new album. Physical copies of “Moving On” will be up on the shelves at Buc-ee’s, Cavender’s Boots and other prime western outlets soon. He will also forming a band in June.

Until then, Kane will be singing his tunes at local acoustic shows. Austin-area Texas music fans can catch him next on June 23 at Urban Rooftop in downtown Round Rock, Texas.
