Tahlequah, OK (May 15, 2019)–The MEDICINE STONE music festival opened its gates for the first time back in 2013 to an overwhelming first year attendance record that numbered in the soaring thousands. The renowned sub-genre known as “Red Dirt” has its origins in Oklahoma, yet the diverse and notably original sounds that represent this particular brand of music has induced a visceral reaction with music fans across the globe. Much like its sister genre Americana, this is music that feeds the truth and traces back to roots music: of a rural past and the gathering of people from different cultures. MEDICINE STONE continues to stand as the defining destination for such a gathering, a three-day retreat that welcomes each and every person into the family reunion atmosphere in the bucolic setting along the scenic Illinois River in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. These phenomenal artists of new generations are carrying the torch of authenticity, and they continue to prove that all great music has not already been made. The widespread impact this music has generated over the last 20 years undoubtedly accounts for the steady rise in attendance year after year. The 7th Annual MEDICINE STONE comes back to the Diamondhead Resort September 19th through September 21st. Ticket packages go on sale June 3rd at 9am solely on the event website. Single day tickets go on sale August 1st based on availability. www.medicinestoneok.com.

“MEDICINE STONE is special for more than just the music. The music is great, but it’s more than that, it’s also about the atmosphere, the connection between artists and fans, and the way you see the same familiar faces year after year. Excellent music and even better company. -Country Exclusive
“MEDICINE STONE is hands down the largest music and camping event of the year in Cherokee County and all surrounding counties. The MEDICINE STONE team do it so well; their affinity for live music, and passion for providing the ultimate Illinois River experience are what makes MEDICINE STONE the titan that it is. Musically, The Stragglers, The Troubadours and their management always bring in top-notch acts, chock full of Red Dirt and Americana heavyweights, with a pinch or two of odd, yet fitting acts spanning a variety of genres. For the music fan, there is perhaps no more beautiful scenario to enjoy this music. Thousands reunite every year to camp, cook, and celebrate to a soundtrack featuring some of the most poignant bands in Red Dirt, Americana and Texas country. Beyond the lights, the music, the morning beers and evening shade, the underlying creature of the event is where the power lies – the Illinois River. These waters can and will heal you, they have for thousands of years. This river can also take you out. As long as you respect the river, your neighbor, your fellow Medicine Stoner, you’re on a collision course with love, baby. September never gets here soon enough.” -Joe Mack/Tahlequah Daily Press
“Medicine Stone isn’t just a music festival. It’s a family reunion. It’s one of the few times of the year where we get to catch up with our friends in other touring bands and are actually able to hang out. It’s always the highlight of our fall and we can’t wait to get back out to Diamondhead in September.”
