Our spotlight shines on The Washer’s this week. Their single “Pennies” jumped from #83 to #67 on the Texas Regional Radio Report, adding +48 spins! Written by Todd Janik, the group told us “The song was nearly titled something along the lines of “hard times for dreamers”, but we decided to go with a shorter title that featured a key word from the song…though that phrase pretty much sums up the idea of the song.” They went on to say “Playing in a band in this scene, can be seriously awesome sometimes- we’ve met cool people and played some cool rooms and festivals….but sometimes it’s a ridiculous grind and struggle- there’s 8000 bands just like us, and we’re all out here trying to turn another head or bend another ear. It’s a life all of us dream of living, but the realities sometimes make it feel like you’re wasting a wish on something unattainable.”
This song stood out to Texas Music Pickers, due to the captivating chorus and the beautiful harmonies. You can’t help but sing and strum the air when you hear “or get my pennies from the well cause all them ones flattened on the rail, aint done a damn thing for me but wreck this train, ….they left me standing in the rain”. The mixture of their vocals and original style make this track refreshing and distinctive.
The single is off of the newest album “Everything at Once” and follows the previous release “Like a Gypsy Should”, which made its way up to #32 on the Texas Music Chart! We really like the potential this track has, and expect it to land inside the Top 20. Help us push this one up the charts by requesting it on your online and local radio stations!
