Dylan Wheeler is a name you definitely want to put on your radar! The 24-year-old out of Edgewood, Texas dropped his debut EP “Tell Me If I’m Wrong” in November of 2018 and it already has well over 250K combined streams! While we thought his debut project was certainly a good starting place for Wheeler, we feel like he’s about to really get some momentum upon the release of his newest tune “Broke A$$ Kid”! Recorded at Rosewood Studios with Phillip Mosley, Wheeler penned the song while reflecting on past relationships, girls that didn’t agree with the “musician lifestyle” and some hometown folks that laughed at the idea of him pursuing music.” Wheeler went on to tell us “the song is admitting that I’m perfectly fine with the life that I’ve chosen to live and I’m not here to please anyone else.”
Here at TMP we love the attitude and energy of the track! You can feel the hurt and bitterness in the lyrics, but the passion and desire to prove everyone wrong in the delivery. And that voice…! Wheeler’s vocals are packed with emotion, season, and come out smooth all the way around! This song has some serious “sauce” on it!
It’s a song many of us who have dreams of making a career off of our own talents can relate to. There are always doubters, naysayers, and haters who are willing to cast their own insecurities upon others, and we can’t wait to show them that all that we are currently, isn’t who we will be in the future!
And speaking of future, Wheeler is already back in the studio recording another tune! We think the rest of 2019 could be the start of something exciting for the emerging singer/songwriter. He’s definitely one you want to keep your eye one!
Be sure to grab a copy of “Broke A$$ Kid” when it drops on all of the digital outlets on Wednesday, but in the meantime enjoy an early listen below!
