Holly Tucker has been on our radar for a while now. She first popped on our radar after releasing her debut album “Steel” and then certainly caught our attention when she won our TMP Songwriter Competition in 2017, but over the last nine months that she’s really got the ball rolling! Upon releasing “Finer Things” last November, you could immediately tell the difference between debut effort and the new batch of songs. Since then she’s released “Country Music Won’t Let Me” and “Take Me Fishin’. You can hear and feel the difference in the production, the songwriting, and the completeness of the songs, and according to her streaming numbers, listeners seem to feel the same! Previous to three newest cuts, her highest streaming original song was 62K. All three of the new ones are already over 100K and approaching the 500K combined; which is already more than twice the amount of streams of her entire debut album. Her current single “Take Me Fishin'” is currently sitting at #19 on our Texas Music Spotify Chart and has been in the Top 25 since the 2nd week of its release! It’s one thing to say it, it’s another thing to quantify it, and the proof of her stepping it up this go-round is undoubtedly in the pudding!
While fans may be already familiar with 3 of the tunes, the four unreleased tracks really left something for the listener to experience on the drop. The catchy, groovy, free-flowing “Rhythm of You”, the hard-hitting and candid “Just Some Guy”, and the wayfinding “Brick by Brick” powerfully showcase Tucker’s struggles, vulnerability, and honestly.
Our *PICK* of the album “You’re Gonna Know My Name” is career anthem, packed with grit, determination, power, and strength! Written by Tucker, Lee Black, and Robyn Collins the song was penned while Tucker was feeling frustrated about making it in the music business; especially as a female. The trio then wrote the tune from an empowering and motivational point of view about the hard work and perseverance it’s going to take to chase her dream successfully. Here at TMP we love the message, the drive of the song, passionate delivery, and the strong vocals. The first line sets the tone and then builds both vocally and musically, creating a tune you can’t help but be hyped-up by! You can feel the intensity, and it’s impossible for it to not seep into your psyche.
“You’re Gonna Know My Name (Part 1)” drops this Friday (8/23) and we definitely encourage you to grab a copy once it drops! In the meantime enjoy an early listen to “You’re Gonna Know My Name” below!
