Matt Caldwell’s easiness in front of a crowd, approachability and honest-to-goodness humble nature makes it hard to tell who is having more fun…the audience or Matt. He is currently on the road spending a lot of time playing throughout Texas showing fans his version of country music. Matt Caldwell is on the cusp of something big.

Austin English grew up in Elgin, TX. It was there that he discovered his love for playing live music. He further honed his skills playing for a handful of bands while in college. He writes from real life experiences influenced by songwriters he grew up with like Tom Petty, The Eagles and John Cougar Mellencamp, along with the songwriters he discovered later like Jason Eady, Adam Hood and Jason Isbell.

He’s Right Where I Belong is the 3rd single to come from veteran musicians Rumor Town. Following the 1st release “Tequila’s Turn” and their 1st TOP 100 song “She’s Never Been This Gone Before”, this song defines the group as a whole. Written by lead vocalist Jay Eric, He’s Right Where I Belong takes you “back to the dance hall days”. Core members Jay Eric, Matthew Aaron, Bruce Schwarz and John Thiem recall the South Texas Dancehalls like The Crystal Chandelier, The Blue Bonnet Palace, Texas Dance Hall, The Golden Stallion, The Farmers Daughter. Rumor Town were obviously much younger at that time but the influences stuck.

Their next CD to be released late summer just takes a little time. They are adding steel guitar, fiddle and dobro to this 10 song project.  Doing the recording in lead guitarists Matt’s (MasB Studios) and bassist Bruce Schwarz doing the indie record promoting, “OLD SCHOOL” just takes a little longer but saves a lot of expenses. Rumor Town is bringing back the true Texas sound.

Hayley McDaniel is first and foremost, a fan of Texas Country Music. Growing up in the small East Texas town of Athens, helped to shape her appreciation for a more traditional country sound. Influenced by the earliest Artists of the Texas Country genre, there’s a definite homage found in the honest simplicity of her lyrics, and the abundance of Steel Guitar in the studio recordings. ” I love Texas Country and Red Dirt Music. My songs are written from family and life experiences, and aim to stay true to my roots.”, said McDaniel”

What is music?

For Melissa Ratley, that’s an easy question. It’s songwriting and singing. It’s simply playing for friends and family, or performing under the lights in front of a crowd. Melissa’s music blends the lyrics and storytelling reminiscent of Paul Simon with the neo-traditional and millennial talents that remind us of Trisha Yearwood or Patty Loveless. As Melissa puts it, music is power, drive and creating a symbiotic relationship with the audience.  Read more…
