Triston Marez’s “Until I Found You” Makes Me “Wish I Could Dance”

Triston Marez has become quite the name in the world of rising neo-traditional artists in the Texas/Red Dirt scene.  One only has to look at his touring schedule to see he’s regularly sharing the stage with acts like Randall King, Mike, and the Moonpies, Aaron Watson, Shotgun Rider, Muscadine Bloodline, Josh Ward, and Jon Wolfe; while also offering a healthy dose of headlining spots at places like The Tap, The Blue Light Dallas, Hoots Pub, Big Spring Texas and more!  Marez, who was picked up by Torrez Music Group last year, has also become a regular of the Top 20 of our Texas Music Spotify Chart and has racked up well over 3 million aggregate streams from his catalog.  The singer/songwriter is also currently wrapping up an eight-show Neon Nights Tour w/ Logan Samford (formerly the frontman of Shotgun Rider) and was recently selected to be a brand ambassador for Texas Ranger Whiskey by Rebecca Creek.

The Houston, Texas native is having what we like to call a breakout year, so needless to say, there will certainly be a lot of eyes and ears on his upcoming project “Until I Found You”.  Set to drop this Friday, October 18th, the 6 track EP is filled with strong, country vocals, twangy guitars, maturing songwriting, and toe-tapping rhythms.  Marez kicks the project off by kicking up dust and giving us a theme song for a rowdy Friday night in “Night To Remember”.  Then slows it down for a Conway Twitty-esque, half-song, half story of lost love in “Fort Worth”, then takes us through the feelings of a blunt ending of a relationship when you’ve already seen it coming from a mile away.  The former bull-rider concludes the project with two songs made for sawdust, boots, finding love and a dance floor in “Until I Found You” and “Wish I Could Dance”.

Our *PICK* of the album is “Far From Good”.  Written by Triston Marez, Randall King, Steve Helms, Jesse Raub Jr, and Wynn Williams at a writer’s retreat organized by King, the track is smooth, cool, and manages to offer a retro-feel of 80’s country while remaining fresh and new.  This song captures the nostalgia of jukeboxes, cigarette machines, and mechanical bulls, but fits right into a Hurricane Harry’s, Tumbleweed Dance Hall, and Banita Creek in 2019!  This folks, is country music!!

An artist’s journey is often one step at a time, and every once in a while an opportunity presents the possibility to make a giant leap instead of step and it’s projects like these that offer those opportunities!  We have big expectations for this budding songwriter and can’t wait to see what the future holds for him! “Until I Found You” drops this Friday, and we definitely encourage you to get your hands on it, but in the meantime, enjoy an early listen to our favorite track, “Far From Good”, below!
