I keep saying there is something in the water when it comes to the Oklahoma music scene, and the Wight Lighters are no exception to that. This three piece is as solid as they come, and their new single “Heartstrings” will have you singing along after the first time you listen to it. The band made up of Dwight Hamlin, Joniel Prouty and Derek Carothers brought in their buddy, Jon Knudson to play keys for this self-produced track, and I think it was the perfect touch to this upbeat, catchy tune.
“Heartstrings” is one of those cruising down the interstate with the windows rolled down kind of songs.
“It’s all about soaking up the little moments in life and not being afraid to fall for someone,” said lead singer, Hamlin.
I’m calling it THE love song for Summer 2019.
It’s already shaping up to be a big year for the Wight Lighters as their name has started making regular appearances on bills with several heavy hitters in the scene. I have a feeling this song is just a preview of what’s to come from some of my favorite Okies this year. Give it a spin below, add it to your favorite playlist, and catch them live, I promise you won’t be disappointed!
The Wight Lighters will be opening for Kody West and Koe Wetzel this Friday, February 22 at Heritage Hall in Ardmore, Oklahoma. I heard there are a few tickets left, so get them now and show up early to get a taste of this Okie rock ‘n’ roll.
