Our spotlight shines on one of the most synonymous names with Texas Country, Cory Morrow. Produced by Lloyd Maines, engineered by Pat Manske, and mixed by Austin Deptula, “Whiskey & Pride” was recorded at The Zone Recording Studio in Dripping Springs. Penned by Morrow, Kyle Hutton, and Tim Nichols, the single is about priorities. “ It features the age-old struggle of love versus ego and cleverly straddles the line of sermon and self-deprecation, played to in the psyche of a man sitting at a bar. The twist comes in the form of a mirror behind the bar that reveals the true identity of the accuser”, Morrow told us.
Here are TMP we’re really digging this one. We love the message, the lively instrumentation, and those signature Morrow vocals. Not only is the songwriting insightful, but it also makes you move! This is exactly the song I was hoping for when I saw that he was releasing a new single.
“Whiskey and Pride” is the first single, and title track from Morrow’s upcoming album, set to drop in September 2018. We’ve been told that the album is “an aggressive blend of early Morrow sound with a current day perspective. Vintage feel from an evolving heart and mind”.
The “Whiskey & Pride” album will very likely be much more than just a collection of songs…and we can’t wait to hear it!
Make sure you stay tuned to Morrow’s socials for updates on the new record, and in the meantime enjoy the new single below!
