Single Spotlight: Presley Phillips – Love and Bad Habits

Our spotlight shines on Presley Phillips’ brand new single, “Love and Bad Habits”.  Produced by Jeffery Armstreet at Red Tree Studio, Phillips, along with co-writer David Stukenberg, penned the tune about some of the up-and-coming singer/songwriter’s painful past experiences.

“We all go through so many experiences in life, some good and some bad” Phillips told us. “This song isn’t about some of my best memories, but it’s something that I went through in my life that made me who I am today.” Using songwriting as outlet, she’s realized that crafting very personal and emotionally-trying songs can be tough. “When I was writing this song, I had to go back to those dark moments in my life and really remember the feelings I had at that time. Sometimes you just have to go there in order to really get the imagery and emotions across in a song. I have nothing to hide, I want all of my songs to tell stories and I want to be as real with my fans as possible.”

Here at TMP, we’re really digging the Hempstead, Texas native’s debut single. Between the haunting vocals, powerful delivery, and honest songwriting it makes one hell of an impression.  The personal connection bleeds right through straight-forward storytelling and gives the listener no option but to captured by the emotion of the song.  This is real life in a song, and what sad, slow country was intended for.

The single currently sits at #39 on our Texas Music Spotify Chart, and already has nearly 50K streams on Spotify! Pretty impressive for a debut single! Phillips also has more material coming soon! ” I’m currently working on two new singles and hope to get them released out into the world sometime this summer. I’m constantly writing and just enjoying this journey as much as I can” she told us.
