Single Spotlight: Redneck Brown and the Freshwater Donkeys – You Can’t Say”

rbfwdOur spotlight shines on Redneck Brown and the Freshwater Donkeys. “You Can’t Say” is at #76 this week and still gaining spins! Written by front-man Robby Ybanez (A.K.A. Redneck Brown), Jamie Chandler and Ronnie Olguin, this song is definitely one of our favorites on the chart! Ybanez told us the “song is about a guy trying to do the right thing; even though his girl is being difficult” and added “the song is very relatable to so many”.

To be honest, I wasn’t really expecting such a powerfully emotional song out of a band named Redneck Brown and the Freshwater Donkeys, but I can genuinely tell you that from the moment I heard it, I knew it was a hit! The production and music give the poignant lyrics life, as you can hear the hurt in Ybanez’s vocals. We love the complexity of emotion the song hits on – when you’ve reached the end of a relationship and all you can do is say “you can’t say, I didn’t try”. This is a song you listen to with whiskey in one hand and the volume button in the other, as you sing as loud as you can with the chorus. rbfwd1

We’re really hoping this song will continue to climb and break the Top 50 by the end of the summer. We encourage you to check it out and help us push it up the chart by requesting it on your local and online radio stations.
