Texas/ Red Dirt Music Community Comes Together to #clearthelists

We’ve seen it before, Texas/Red Dirt artists coming together for a common cause. From hurricane relief efforts, to supporting fellow artists in times of need, the Texas/Red Dirt Music community is known for taking care of those who need it most. If you’ve been on Twitter recently, you might have seen the hashtag #clearthelists, which originated from the Support a Teacher movement. The movement encourages people to donate supplies to a teacher for the upcoming school year. Leave it to this scene’s biggest names to take this campaign to the next level by challenging fellow artists and inspiring fans to get involved.

We first saw the #clearthelists movement enter our timeline when Josh Abbott decided to buy a teacher’s entire Amazon wish list after he was challenged to participate. Abbott then challenged fellow artists to participate and #clearthelists began to spread like wildfire. Casey & Melinda Donahew took the reins and created a GoFundMe page that has raised more than $30K in the last 48 hours. The most unexpected contribution to the GoFundMe campaign has come from internet celebrity, beauty YouTuber, and founder of his own cosmetics line, Jeffree Star, who donated $25K to the cause and then encouraged his 5 million Twitter followers to get involved too!

Us Pickers are so proud to see our community of festivals, fans and artists coming together for a great cause! If you’re interested in donating, click here

I’m excited the school year will be starting in a few more weeks and I can’t wait to see all of my returning students plus meet my new prek babies. This year I should have over 570 students. I’m so happy that others appreciate what we do and are here to support us. Thank you.
