Randy Rogers celebrated 40 years young this week and is now the proud owner of custom Whataburger boots…talk about a “tasteful” birthday present! The “Godfather of Texas Country” (as nicknamed by Parker McCollum) also premiered in Don’t Mess with Texas earlier this month. Now “if that ain’t [Texas] country, I’ll kiss your…”

Save the Date for Hayes Carll’s 5th Annual Drunken Poets Weekend
This week Hayes Carll may be dancing along to his own jams in the studio but come the end of September, he will be hosting his 5th Annual Drunken Poets Weekend. The event will take place September 28-29 and will include a weekend package consists of two shows, recordings of both performances, one Q&A with fans, two brunches, a t-shirt, a beach towel, a poster, and more stuff Carll says he can’t remember. Garth Brooks Drops Free Live Album
Garth Brooks has teamed up with Ticketmaster to provide fans with a free desktop download of his latest “Trible Live” album. Brooks is currently planning his new tour and if you happen to catch a tour stop…the show will feature music from Texas’ own Randall King. The two collaborated on what will be the tour opener, a song called “The Road I’m On”.

Flatland Cavalry Welcomes New Fiddle Player Wesley Hall
What a week from the boys from Lubbock! In addition to releasing their new single, “Honey Wine”, Flatland Cavalry officially welcomed and announced fiddle player Wesley Hall as the newest member of the band. “Wes has been playing fiddle since he was 4 years old and has learned from some of the best.
