Robert Earl Keen among the 2018 Distinguished Alumni of Texas A&M
Robert Earl Keen, Texas A&M Class of 1978, learned of the honor March 3 in a surprise announcement during a benefit concert at Floore’s Country Store in Helotes (picture above). This is the highest honor bestowed on Texas A&M alumni, and it has been given since 1962 to only 281 of Texas A&M’s 488,500 former students. Keen will be honored on Oct. 5 along with nine other recipients at Texas A&M.
George Strait Leading Tourism Campaign to Help Hurricane-Damaged South Texas Community
Reported by Billboard, George Strait is leading a new tourism campaign for a South Texas community that was heavily affected by Hurricane Harvey last August.
“Officials with the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce say Strait is participating free of charge. The singer has owned a house in the community for years. Strait is part of a radio and TV campaign called ‘Find Yourself in Rockport-Fulton.'” TV commercials are scheduled to begin this month in San Antonio and Austin and radio spots will air in the Texas Hill Country and New Braunfels area.

John Baumann’s ‘Gulf Moon’ will be on Kenny Chesney’s Record
John Baumann announced this week that his track “Gulf Moon” will be on Kenny Chesney’s upcoming album ‘Songs for the Saints’ out June 27. Baumann shared on Twitter, “I am honored, stunned and grateful….Never quit on your dreams. There is always hope.”

Part II of KORA Summer Series Announced
With their 2nd annual Acoustic Summer Series off to a great start, Bryan/College Station, Texas’ KORA 98.3 FM and Hurricane Harry’s have released Part II of the series. KOKEFEST 2018 to be held August 10 & 11
KOKEFEST is returning to the City of Hutto at Brushy Creek Park and includes an AWESOME lineup including Aaron Watson, Mark Chesnutt, and Mike Ryan on Friday, August 10. Saturday, August 11 features Chris Colston, Ruston Kelly, Koe Wetzel, Whiskey Myers, Wade Bowen, and the Josh Abbott Band.

Copper Chief Releases Video for ‘Jericho’
Copper Chief has released the music video for the band’s single “Jericho”! Produced by Christina Fedderson at Matchless Exposure and filmed at Rustic Tap in downtown Austin, the wild crew said that they had a blast making the video.
