Zach Coffey Brings the Heat with New Single “Wildfire”

We’ve been a fan of Zach Coffey ever since he swept us of our feet with his Top 10 debut single, “I Love You Anyway” back in 2014!  After a brief hiatus following the release of  his 2015 record, the Dallas, Texas native is back, and boy is he coming out swinging with his new single “Wildfire!

Recorded at Stormy Cooper Media in Houston, Texas with Joel Tolley and Lyndon Hughes, Coffey penned the tune with the help of Troy Brooks and Kassie Jordan Brooks. “I came to Troy and Kassie with the idea for the song and a little hook. Troy is such a killer guitar player (he played acoustic on the recording) and he came up with that driving rhythm. Kassie is an amazing vocalist and really helps me push my limits vocally” Coffey told TMP.

The song takes the listener through two accounts of the same story about a night out. “The girl is out drinking, trying to fill a void with a good time, or a one night stand. The guy is sitting back, witnessing it all and hoping that she’ll notice him, because he thinks if she did, she wouldn’t be out doing what she’s doing — maybe she doesn’t know, or maybe she doesn’t care, but either way she chooses to ignore it and tries to find comfort somewhere else” said the Yukon, Oklahoma native.

Coffey told us that he is “unbelievably excited” to have something new out.  “It’s a new direction and a definite turn from what I have done in the past. I think that’s what took so long. I didn’t know exactly what or who I was. I am growing into myself as a writer and I hope the songs reflect that”, he went on to say.

Here at TMP we’re digging the fire (no pun intended) in this one.  The strength of the delivery, the pounding of the guitar’s rhythm, and those vocals….wow.  The complexity in the music, breakdowns, and bridge push this to the next level and the songwriting drives the story home. It makes you move, it makes you sing along, and make it makes you want to play it again once the track is over.  That’s a hit in our opinion!

And the excitement doesn’t stop there.  The song is the lead single off of Coffey’s forthcoming EP, set for release this summer!

Be sure to request this one at your local and online radio stations and stay tuned to the band’s social media for updates on the new record.  In the meantime, take a listen to the song below and let us know what you think!
